After his graduation at Lokmanya Tilak Medical College, Sion Hospital, Mumbai (MBBS), Dr. Miten Sheth completed his Masters in Orthopaedic surgery (MS) at King Edward Memorial (K.E.M.) Hospital, Mumbai- one of the foremost centers of post-graduate teaching in the country. In fact, he won the Pandurangi- Best Resident Award for his committed attitude towards learning and compassion for patients. He then returned to his hometown in North Mumbai and spent a year at the ESIS (Govt.) Hospitals in Mulund and Thane, providing free orthopaedic service to society. During his tenure at ESIS Hospital he accomplished another herculean task, passing the National Board of Examinations in his first attempt (general pass percentage over the years has been around 50%). With Masters in Orthopedic Surgery (MS) and Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) behind him, he looked to new challenges.
His time at Government hospitals for over 10 years, gave a deep insight to people's troubles. Motion is life and our knees are the core, the basis of all movements. Prevalence of knee pain and disability having increased substantially in the last few years, spurned him to specialize specifically in Knee Surgery. Not surprisingly, he spent umpteen solo hours (days) at the Cadaver dissection lab at K.E.M. Hospital, learning and exploring anatomy of the knee.
